I woke up this morning in the mood to create. Last week was busy entertaining guests and celebrating a special Baha’i Holy Day so I haven’t had much of a chance to work on music. As I sat at the piano and practiced playing a few pieces, I then started to dabble a little. That’s where the excitement of an idea usually begins… with dabbling.
I searched for a quotation and found this inspiring one in the book, ‘Releasing the Powers of Junior Youth’. As I played a few chords on the piano, I heard this simple melody and ran up to record it in the studio so that I wouldn’t forget it. It is very rough but I’m happy to share it and would love to hear your thoughts on what you think of it and how to improve the piece. I know it’s a bit repetitive especially in the beginning as I sing the first phrase several times but I wanted the focus to be on that first sentence because of the beauty of the words, ‘So intense must be the spirit of love and loving-kindness…’. What do you think of the title, ‘The Spirit of Love’?
Have a listen and please share your thoughts. The music and lyrics are below:

Beautiful and the repetition glorifies the spirit of the Words of Abdu’l-Baha and emphasizes the intensity of His Words.

I love it! You are so tanlented, you take a small quote and make it more beautiful then what it is.
What a wonderfully inspiring quote. Just wonderful. This composition is as inspiring and beautiful as “A Thought of Peace” and all of your other compositions and songs. Truly beautiful.
Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much Glenn. As soon as I found the quote, I knew that it would be perfect for the song. It’s a little short for a song so I hope it works but if I ever complete the song, I may need to find another quote to add to the melody.
It does gently reach the heart of the listener.
Elly love this is a most beautiful melody… Thanks!
Those wordless “angel riffs” towards the end are especially beautiful.Perhaps you could interweave another quote, as you say. You’ve done it before to great effect. Thanks so much.
Hi Elika, I thought this was lovely. Good quote – nice title. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you to each one of you for sharing your thoughts and kind words.
Bret, any thoughts on what other quote I could weave in there?
Thank you so much for this beautiful song.
It enjoys not only the ears but also the heart.
Just wonderful.
