A day in the studio in Beijing

A few days ago, I had the immense pleasure of being present in my producer’s studio for the recording of a talented young musician while she was playing the cello for two pieces that will be on my upcoming album in honor of Abdu’l-Baha.  Listening to her play the notes on the cello – those that I had written and even more so the ones she played spontaneously – was a moving experience.  

There’s something special about the creative experience that for me is like prayer – a mingling of the divine as one allows heavenly inspiration to pour through.

I wanted to create this video to document the process of going to the studio, working with my producer, recording Brenda (the cellist), and to share some of the details of my day and snippets of a couple of pieces on the album.  I hope you enjoy the video!

Thank you to friends who sent in videos

On a separate note, I also wanted to thank all who were able to send in videos for the global singalong song. My friend and videographer, Ali Youssefi, has started on the project and will be working on it over the next few months.  Ali has become a master at creating global singalong songs like ‘Unite’ and ‘Waves’ so I’m excited to be collaborating with him on this project.

My producer, Jarome Matthew, has a beautiful studio in Beijing and is now preparing the audio version for the global singalong and it is so exciting to hear some mixes of the song already.  You’ll hear part of the song in the video.  Enjoy!
