Recently I had the blessing of spending some quality time with my daughter. We had been apart for 2 years as a result of the pandemic so it has been such a joy to be with her and to sing together once again.
Last week we recorded a few pieces and I wanted to share one of them with you today. It is a live video of us singing Armed with the Power of Thy Name. The words are from the Writings of Bahá’u’lláh and the melody is composed by Devon Gundry.
🎬 Watch Armed with the Power of Thy Name
One of my highlights parenting Amelia has been harmonizing with her, something that we have done from her childhood. We both love singing this piece, especially the phrase ‘Yá Bahá’u’l-Abhá’ (an invocation meaning ‘O Glory of the All-Glorious’). The way our voices blend together on the same note and then harmonize in that part is such a glorious feeling. You’ll see at the end of the video I can hardly contain myself as I reach out and hug her!
Hoping you enjoy the video!
I have also composed a different melody for this quotation from my album ‘Fire and Gold’. You can watch The Power of Thy Name here.
Kindly leave a comment on the Youtube video! I would so appreciate it. 🙏
Some time ago I had the opportunity to record another a cappella piece titled ‘The Help of God’ with my daughter. It always brings me immense joy whenever we sing together. You can watch it here.
